Very sad. We were at the park last year and happened to get a ride in the operator’s car. At one point we were stopped on the track and I asked why. The driver said that there was a strict rule about any two trains coming within 250 yards of each other, and that the first offense was a suspension and the second was a termination. It seemed like Disney’s safety system was pretty rigorous and the drivers were very focused and disciplined, but they seemed to rely on radio communication between the operator and the base station. I don’t think there were any automated systems to prevent a collision.
