Dual Saw as Seen on TV!

Posted on July 2nd, 2009 in Billy Mays, Pitchmen by lalate

Dual Saw as Seen on TV

The Dual Saw “As Seen on TV” with Billy Mays aired on PITCHMEN back in April. Billy Mays’ Dual Saw pitch is looked back at tonight as fans prepare to say goodbye, his funeral set for Friday.

In April, LALATE covered for you the PITCHMEN episode of the Dual Saw. And who would know that a saw of all things and its pitch became a massive hit among readers this week. It’s because of the love fans have for Mays.

Dual Saw inventor Frederic Sciamma appeared on the episode to discuss the project and the inspiration behind Dual Saw. The show premiered that night with the following introduction from Discovery:

Pitchmen follows the adventures of Billy Mays and Anthony “Sully” Sullivan, two of the most famous and successful pitchmen in history, as they search the world for inventions they believe they can take all the way to the big time. In each episode, this odd couple of pitchmen partners become potential dream merchants for the inventors they discover; most of whom have staked everything they own, and then some, on their inventions. For these lucky individuals, Billy and Sully falling in love with their products and deciding to pitch them to the masses could be the turning point that changes their lives forever. Most of the eccentric characters the pitchmen shepherd are all-in, risking absolutely everything in the biggest gamble of their lives. Will they fall short or, with Billy and Sully’s backing, run their gadgets all the way to glory?

As LALATE broke to you earlier this week, here are Billy Mays’ funeral arrangements:

St Mary’s Church in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania
The believed address of the church is as follows:
3 Saint John St
Mc Kees Rocks, PA 15136
412-331-1179
Friday at 9:30 am

Mays died Sunday in Tampa. He was 50 years old.

Billy Mays’ rise as a pitchman came in 1993 in Pittsburgh when he was hired to promote cleaning products - OxiClean, Orange Clean, Orange Glo, and Kaboom. His signature opener was “Hi - Billy Mays here for …”

On Monday, the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Vernard Adams ruled Mays’ likely cause of death was heart disease:

“[Mays] had an enlarged heart, a thickening of the wall of the ventricle which takes blood to the heart.”

The report found Mays had “hypertensive and arteriosclerotic disease of the heart”.

Mays’ son has updated messages for fans about a possible foundation. Mays’ son writes on Twitter (http://twitter.com/YoungBillyMays):

“I’ve decided to start a Billy Mays Memorial Foundation in the coming weeks. I’m still thinking of which particular cause to help with it.”

Billy Mays will be greatly missed.
