LALATE broke the news of the sudden death of Mays at age 50 Sunday. Mays was found dead in his home hours after a plane flight in which items hit his head. The Tampa Florida Coroner’s Office concluded no connection with that flight and Mays’ death.

Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Vernard Adams announced moments ago the following:

“[Mays] had an enlarged heart, a thickening of the wall of the ventricle which takes blood to the heart.”

The report found Mays had “hypertensive and arteriosclerotic disease of the heart”. The complete report will take a few weeks but initial indications suggest Mays could have died from complications of heart disease.
