MAP! Here is a map of your Lakers Victory Parade Route 2009! The Lakers Parade route for Wednesday from Staples to the Coliseum has caused huge concerns over who would pay the bill, as broke last weekend on LALATE.

The 2002 bill was paid by the City at a price tag of $1.2 million. Late Monday, the Mayor announced the Lakers are paying 50% of this bill, valued at $2 million, the remaining he hopes will be paid by private donations.

But who should really pay the remaining 50%

1. The Lakers also?
2. The NBA?

Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry says:

“We can’t afford to cover the costs. How could we make a decision about people’s jobs and then sponsor the parade?”

END LOCATION: Coliseum.

COLISEUM DETAILS: FREE, gates open at 9:30 AM

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa tells press:

“We’re going to have a parade. People can complain about it, that’s fine. But we’re going to have a parade. By the same token, I also said that the part that the city’s going to provide for, which is police protection and the transportation services, we’re going to raise money from the private sector.

“I’ve already raised more than a few hundred thousand and I’m working hard to raise as much of it as I can in the next couple days. I was on the phone today doing that and we’re going to try to get as much of that paid for by the private sector as possible.”
