PHOTO! Here is a picture of the new Cj by Cookie Johnson Jeans at Nordstrom! Magic’s wife Cookie Johnson offers Cj by Cookie Johnson, an exciting new line of demin for women with curves.

Great idea!

Cookie says of the jeans:

“I couldn’t find jeans to fit my body type. It frustrated me to try on every pair in the store and leave with nothing….

“I’ve seen everything from tears of relief to sexy struts in front of the mirror,” she smiles. “The confidence that great-fitting jeans give women is the most rewarding thing about creating Cj.”

Cookie is a graduate of Michigan State University, with a top degree in Retailing of Clothing and Textiles. Her jeans offer more room in the back and upper thighs, some coming in bootcuts.

Cookie teams up with Michael Glasser for the demin line. The Cj jeans shown above are “CJ by Cookie Johnson ‘Love’ Boyfriend Jeans”

I really have a very hard time finding jeans that fit my curvy body. I think that your jeans are nice, however, I feel that they are not priced for the average woman on a fixed income. They are really expensive and I would love to see your prices lowered so that others will be able to afford them. The average woman can afford to pay between 60-80 dollars for a pair of jeans. Thanks and I hope that one day, I am able to afford a pair of CJ jeans.

I also have a hard time finding jeans, but at the price that you have your jeans I will never be able to afford them. If the price was reasonable for my budget them I would probbly buy two pair. I am sure others will fill the same as I do, because some of us are on a tight budget we do wish we could afford pay $100 to $150 for one pair of jeans, I saw them on the news tonight and I loved them. May God bless you always.

Yes, if the price was just a bit lower for the people like me that are on a fixed income I could see me buying 2 pair. That the whole problem with the designers today they forget about us that are not married to the ballers of the world.

I saw you on the news and the jeans look great and would love to have a pair but the price is outrageous for the non wealthy and famous women in the world. Maybe you can reconsider the price and get a lot better response or feedback from the ladies. We all would love to look great since yes we do have the “curves” everyone would love to accent what they have but the price will not allow that.

    Be Blessed…..

The jeans look nice but there is a down side they are very pricie, were in a recession and not everyone can go out and spend almost 200.00 for a pair of jeans I don’t think the thought process was for the low income or middle class women…

I have been looking for a great pair of jeans and saw you on the Oprah show this afternoon. I am just so bummed that they are so expensive!!! Someone should make a jean for us less fortunate folks.

    On the flip side, congratulations!!!

I can not believe that you can go on Oprah and show the jeans off and talk about how wonderful they are for the average person then charge prices for the wealthy people… Talk about contradicting yourself…. I just don’t get it…..

I was so overjoyed about ur Jeans and ready to purchase them but when I went to the web site and saw they were $196.00 I was floored….. Nowadays people can’t afford to pay that amount for a pair of jeans even if THEY FEEL SO GREAT ON U. Good Luck with the sales.

I saw you on Oprah today and I am excited to see these fabulous jeans. I would love to buy 10 pair of them but it is to much for one pair of jeans!!! My groceries do not cost that much!! If the price ever comes down, I will buy a few pair.

God bless you, and thank you for making jeans for the “hippy’s”

Well…if these comments reflect anything it’s that you’d most likely make more in sales by dropping the price. I am personally not of the “curvy” variety but as my Mom (who is) and I sat here watching CJ on Oprah we were pleased to hear there is a similar alternative available for only $42 (Lee’s Jeans at JcPenny). That just means you won’t be getting the $ next time my mom and other typical curvy women need jeans. We definitely agree though, $60-80 per pair is reasonable.

Looking at the model on here either she doesn’t have curves or these jeans make her butt look flat. I’m not dying to go out and try them on and the price will definitely keep me from purchasing them. On Oprah the price for CJ was from $141 to $198. Even if I had the money I still wouldn’t pay that price for jeans. Can someone please design jeans that address the problems of women all sizes for $60? I’m sure it can be done

  12. Debbie said,

    on October 22nd, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Did I hear correctly ??? Sizes 2 to 18. Love Oprah, but surely she is larger than a size 18.The models and Oprah looked adorable in the jeans, however, once again, not for the average woman. Too pricey and needs to be available in true plus sizes. How disappointing. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, the perfect jean is out there somewhere.

saw you on Oprah also and girl u must be out of your mind to think we (average folk) can buy jeans at those prices. They look good but I must opt out, and keep paying for college for my kids. If Lane Bryant can charge between 49 and 59 dollars why can’t you!!!. Thanks for the effort.

How disappointing to think that Oprah, who once didn’t have so much of anything, thinks that the cost of Cookie Jeans make them affordable for the AVERAGE income folk,,,,another reason I went from an avid fan to a sometime fan..we are retired military and I can hardly afford Lee jeans, which by the way ladies don’t show your panties…sorry Oprah disappointed AGAIN

  15. Maven said,

    on October 22nd, 2009 at 4:17 pm

C’mon! No one in their right mind should even consider spending those high dollars for jeans – not when there are so many options out there. Now, Lee Jeans for $42 – ABSOLUTELY!

After watching the Oprah show today, I was ready to purchase a couple pairs of the CJ jeans, but after reviewing the price, I will pass. Cookie I understand that you have to make a living, but your jeans are really over priced.

  17. Betsy said,

I don’t have an issue with the price if the quality is there. However, what a shame for the true plus size ladies that there are no sizes above a 16 or 18 :-(

It’s nice that women on the “fluffier”size have an option if they can afford them, but why cut the sizing off at just 2 sizes into plus sizes??? Makes NO sense to me!!! Oh, & I adore Oprah but I don’t believe she was wearing a size 18 either. Perhaps CJ hade a special pair made for the grand Miss O!!!! It can be done :-)

  18. Cynthia said,

    on October 22nd, 2009 at 5:12 pm

Watched Oprah, your jeans look wonderful. I stopped wearing jeans because it was a rare occurence when I found a jean that fit my rear and waist at the same time.
As I got older, they just weren’t comfortable anymore. I do miss wearing them. A little too expensive for me, but I look forward to someone making a jean for a curvy poor girl! ;)

    Best Wishes, Cookie!

  19. Debbie said,

Hey, Lady O…AVERAGE is $25 to $40. I just caught a sale on Lee at J. C. Pennys for $24.99
Not My Daughters Jeans, aka NMDJ fit wonderfully but the price point caused them to lay unsold. The too were for curvey girls. Your friend Cokkie better rethink her price if she wants to be a success!.

  20. Donna Marie said,

    on October 22nd, 2009 at 6:44 pm

Those prices are outrageous, Lee will do just fine. In my next life I hope to come back rich and built like a stick. Don’t think I will encounter any problems with jeans then, it will be a win win either way.
What about the middle class? Or should I say the curvacious middle class?

Someone is still missing the mark on people like me. My waist is larger than my butt. Butt I’d still like to have a good fitting jean. Everyone seems to think that all plus size women have big bootaaas. Just the opposite. small butt large waist. Then I’d be tempted to pay the price.

  22. Rosierose said,

Betsy, to me Oprah looks like a size 16 or 18, plus didn’t you hear Oprah say she was told to try them on at a photo shoot for her magazine cover, she didn’t order them special. Plus if you are bigger sized then go to Lane Bryant they have GREAT clothes! There also are Lee Jeans that are good for curvy women and they are only $42.00 available at JC Penny!
Stop Complaining!!!! Plus you can always lose weight if all else fails.

I have stopped going into Nordstroms because everything is so expensive. They have the cutest jeans ever though! The last time I went in there I saw these jeans I really wanted and then looked at the price.. $248!! No way I could afford that. I’m a size 14.. it is so hard to find jeans that fit lately.. (I was a size 9 last year) ;(.. CJ’s jeans are priced pretty much the same as a very popular jean called “sevens”.. super cute also, but you get what you pay for, they will be your favorite jeans for sure. I didnt really have a point to this.. sorry lol

  24. Sandi said,

Cookie should take her styling ideas to one of the Home Shopping Networks! Their quality control is strict and their
prices MUCH more reasonable than Nordstroms (due to their tremendous volume of sales). Also, most of their designers (even Bob Mackie) offer at least a 3x for women.

  25. krys said,

    on October 22nd, 2009 at 11:52 pm

The jeans are hot but for the price I could 5 – 10 pairs of less expensive jeans. Hey ladies some people are experiencing the recession and can’t afford to pay this much. Reasonably priced does not equal a minimum of $148.00 a pair.

  26. Stella said,

    on October 23rd, 2009 at 7:33 am

The jeans do look good! It’s hard to find quality jeans in sizes about 10. I will check them out, and hope that the prices are reduced in the near future. I hear the ladies about the plus sizes. I share the concern as a full-figured woman. Having been on her show, I can assure those who have commented that Oprah does not wear a size 18 or larger. While she is a full figure, she is a ‘petite’ woman! She is much smaller than my size 16/18 frame. Congrats Cookie!!

  27. Toni said,

    on October 23rd, 2009 at 11:21 am

I agree with all of the above. What justification is there for ANY pair of jeans to be so expensive? There is no good reason. I am a bit concerned since Oprah put her stamp of approval on these jeans, that women who really can’t afford them will buy them anyway because “Oprah says so.” I am not one of those women, but there are a lot of them out there. I am sure these jeans are great, but no way can “regular folks” afford them, especially in this economy. I’ll stick to my Levi’s…they’re just fine, made of the same materials, and much less expensive. And yes, I AM a “curvy woman” so I know what I am talking about!

  28. Cindy said,

Congratulations Cookie!! The jeans look great.
However they are too expensive for me and the
average woman out here trying to keep things
    together. The best to you!

I love the way CJ Jeans look and I would definitely buy them however, the price is outrageous. I am a curvy size 12 I know the value of a good pair of jeans, but I think these jeans are priced for Cookie’s friends not average working moms

  30. KLEM said,

for the person who commented about losing weight to fit into smaller clothes…ignorant. I am a size 4-6 but have a hard time finding jeans that fit because I have hips and a butt. The Cookie jeans look amazing, however, like everyone else commented- way too expensive. Guess I’ll be trying the Lee Jeans…at least there is thought and talk of making jeans to fit those of use with bodies!

I too was excited when i saw the CJ jean on Oprah, and visited the nordstrom site while on my laptop and watching the show. When i saw the price, my mouth dropped open…but what really got me was the sizing…

The size chart indicates to measure by the hip to figure your size…a size 18 constitutes 38in hips according to the size chart for the jeans…no other brand uses a 38 inch hip measurement to constitute a size 18 for their jeans…either they made a mistake and meant “waist” instead of “hip”..or these jeans weren’t intended for true plus sizes anyway..

I read the above comments and disagree–
The CJ jean is very affordable, especially for the incredible fit and style Cookie offers. I also live on a tight budget, but enjoy very few but quality items. These jeans have been a perfect addition to my other two jean wardrobe! Thanks Cookie and keep it up!!!

I was so excited to find these jeans but then was so let down to see the price. I should have known better that the rich would make something for average people on a budget.

Cost to much, not enough sizes, no clue what “normal” people can afford for cloths. Very disappointed. I’m sure her husband can afford to buy her a pair though.

I have to agree with the majority. The price is too high. I’m not even going to bother trying them on it would just be too hurtful.

I must agree with all of the above, I lost my job several months ago and times are very hard. When you discuss the price of the jeans, there are other things we need medicine, food, gas………the luzury of a wonderful pair of jeans is only a deam, like a vacation………

  37. TS Barone said,

Look nice but disappointed that the longest length you have is 35″. Being around ballers forever, I would think you would consider us women who are curvy AND tall. I will say that 35″ is longer than most, but it isn’t long enough.

Jeans are fabulous. Letme say I love you and Oprah, so much!!! Much success with your business. However, neither of u represent “today’s woman” or even an average. So, $200 for a pair of jeans is nothing to you. It may be YOUR average. The same for Oprahs favorites: stunning, yet I must add them to my wish list or hopechest! Wonderful product, but the price is UNREALISTIC for the AVERAGE woman.

  39. Robin Burton said,

I was IN LOVE with the CJ Jean at first glance!!! Couldn’t wait for Oprah to announce where we could purchase the jeans from, so I ran on over to my computer, googled the CJ Jean and saw the price! I thought… “this was wrong, maybe I had the wrong jean, wrong site, wrong Cookie Johnson but I heard Oprah confirm the price… starting at $140.00 – $198.00!!!? What are they thinking? Average women can not afford to pay this! I would LOVE to support CJ with her NEW COLLECTION but at this price…”it’s never going to happen”! PLEASE Mrs. Johnson, think about the AVERAGE women out there, would you be willing to come down on your price!!!?

  40. Renee said,

Ladies, the CJ by Cookie Johnson Jeans are way over priced for the majority of us curvy women. I love Levi’s 529 Curvy Bootcut – great fit and very flattering, runs around $30.00 and really flatters the fuller figure.
