It was a big Saturday for NCAA surprises and Sunday could bring the same. As of Saturday night, here is how you should update your NCAA Bracket 2010.

Final score on Northern Iowa vs Kansas was 69-67, on St Mary’s vs Villanova 75-68, on Murray St vs Butler 52-54, and on Ohio vs Tennesse 68-83.

Also Old Dominion vs Baylor ended 68-76, Washington vs New Mexico was 82-64, and BYU vs Kansas St was 72-84. Finally Wake Forest vs Kentucky ended 60-90.

Northern Iowa took out number 1 seed Kansas to get its first top 16 appearance in school history. Northern Iowa coach Ben Jacobson said tonight the following:

As covered all day long on LALATE, the big NCAA star for Sunday’s action was Omar Samhan of St Mary’s. Just days ago the St Mary’s player blogged the following:

“So proud of this team and no matter what happens they will be remembered for their accomplishments. However that doesnt mean I’ am still not betting on them all the way to the Sweet Sixteen. Omar and Ben lead your team and leave it all out there because wherever the future leads you two it will never be like this again. Blessings to all of the players and staff. Gaels forever!!!!!!!”

“This years St Mary’s team has the tools to do something special. They already did something that no other St Mary’s team had done in thirteen years! They also got to relax on Sunday and see where they would be traveling first class. I never thought i would feel so much school pride and emotions while watching the Gaels this year. I love those guys! Seeing what Omar, Ben, Mickey, Delle, Clint, Jordy and all the others have accomplished this year is amazing! Watching them humiliate the Zags and staying up all night skyping with todd from Spain to Israel with tears in my eyes was the best time i have had while living abroad. “

Here are current scores as of 3:30 PM PST 6:30 PM EST.

Northern Iowa vs Kansas is 36-28 (halftime), Old Dominion v. Baylor is 27-38 (1st), Washington vs. New Mexico is 31-21 (1st).

St Mary’s vs Villova was 75-68, Ohio vs Tennesse was 68-83, and Murray St vs Butler was 52-54.

The Gaels of Saint Mary’s College have defeated Villanova. St Mary’s University, a college in Nor Cal, has delivered the big stunner in NCAA action today with a major win against Villanova.

Final score was 75-68 with SMC defeating number 2 ranked VILL.

Top scorers for St Mary’s were Samhan with 32 points, Allen with 8 rebounds, McConnell with 3 assists and 1 steal, and Samhan with 2 blocks. Villanova was lead by Stokes with 15 points, Cheek with 7 rebounds, Wayns with 3 assists and Redding with 2 steals and blocks

Recently in March, Samhan recently blogged the following:

“Today was a good day for the Gaels. The bubble is popping for a lot of teams and that helps us big time. Tennessee 75 beat Miss. St 59 helps also Connecticut lost to South Florida and UAB lost to UTEP. Utah State won again, as did SDSU. These were all good for us from a NCAA tournament stand point. No more about them its about us. We landed and went to the hotel where we relaxed for a few hours. Then we had practice at 4 today. I was mad because I wanted to practice at the Orleans Arena where we will be playing but instead we went to Cox’s with is UNLV’s women’s gym.

“We will get a chance in the morning to warm up a little on the hoops at the Orleans Arena. We don’t know who we play yet but I’m guessing we will play Portland. It will be a good game and I am excited to see what happens between LMU and Gonzaga might be a better game than many people think. I’m cant wait for tomorrow!”
