Actor David Carradine was found dead in the closet of a Bangkok hotel room Thursday with a cord wrapped around his neck and genitals, leading Thai police to suspect his death was not a suicide but an accident resulting from dangerous sex practices.

Porntip Rojanasunan of the Central Institute of Forensic Science has informed the Bangkok Post that Carradine could have died from the asphyxiation act which involved “cutting off one’s air supply”.

Police are pending an autopsy to determine if Carradine died of a heart attack or from suffocation, telling press:

“The two ropes were tied together. It is unclear whether he committed suicide or not or he died of suffocation or heart failure.”

Carradine’s Manager Chuck Binder has said the actor died an “accidental death” by hanging, “he was always full of life, always wanting to work – a great person” and that the death was not a suicide.

Autopsy results will be back in days.
