ille qui omnes servabit

Did you catch the “ille qui omnes servabit” on LOST tonight? What’s the Latin translation of “ille qui omnes servabit” from LOST tonight?

One Latin Language website says the following:

“Ille qui nos omnes servabit” That, TV fans, is the answer to the question posed throughout the second half of the season on ABC’s hit adventure/drama series Lost: “What lies in the shadow of the statue?”.

The site says the breakdown is as follows:

Fine; Ille qui nos omnes servabit – “He who will protect us all.” Latin students will be careful not to confuse the verb servo, servare – “protect, keep” (it’s the root of English words like “conserve” and “preserve”), with the almost-homophone servio, servire – “to serve”.

On the Lost forums they are saying it translates loosely as “That who we all serve” or “He who saved us all!”

servabit = saved or to save.
omnes = all, everyone
ille = he, she, it
and i believe qui= who

Finally, the best explanation perhaps is on Entertainment Weekly where a Latin professor offers the following:

I’m a Latin teacher. If the quotation really is, “Ille qui nos omnes servabit,” then it means, “He who will save/preserve/protect all of us,” not, “That which, etc.” I know that some previous posters already got that right; I’m just verifying the translation.
