Allen Andrade – GUILTY! Here is a picture of Justin Zapata, transgender Angela or Angie Zapata, murdered by Allen Andrade. Andrade has just been found guilty of first degree murder.
The shocking Zapata story was broke to you weeks ago. Zapata, 18, was beaten with a fire extinguisher in 2008.
Allen Ray Andrade met Angela Zapata on a social networking site called MocoSpace. Investigators says shortly after hanging out, Zapata performed orally on Allen Ray but didn’t let him touch her. Police then say Allen Ray found a photograph that prompted him to ask Angela Zapata if he was a man or a woman. Zapata said woman. Allen Ray then grabbed Zapata and felt what he suspected – that Angela was really a man.
Moments ago a jury in Denver found Andrade found guilty of first degree murder, bias motivated hate crime, aggravated motor vehicle theft and identity theft, sentenced to life in prison without chance of parole. Andrade was 32.
Analysts had called the case the first time an anti-transgender murder will be prosecuted as a hate crime under state law.
Judge Marcelo Kopcow told Andrade he hopes the rest of his life in the Department of Corrections he will think of what he did to the victim and Zapata’s family.
