Life on Mars Cancelled

Life on Mars Cancelled! Life on Mars, the show LALATE readers loved, has been cancelled by ABC after just one season.

ABC cancelled Life on Mars which never got much life in the ratings yet good reviews from critics. Jason O’Mara led the case. The series will end with O’Mara’s character returning back in time .. and not with enough episodes for syndication.

I just can’t believe they’re actually cancelling Life On Mars. Everyone I know watches it. It’s a great series, well written, the concept was solid and the acting perfect. ABC just doesn’t know what it’s doing. I was actually worried about how to watch the program once Jay Leno started at 10PM. No worries now. Bye bye ABC. You deserve the loss in viewers.

WRITE ABC and let them know how you feel about them cancelling Life on Mars. Here’s the address:

It is really a sin that the series was cancelled. It was so refreshing to see a storyline that is so interesting and unique. It was a great concept. What were you thinking? Remember a little show called “Seinfeld”? They didn’t do very well their first season either….then look what happened? First pushing daisies and now this….it’s a shame!!

You people are out of your minds……it’s just like FOX to have a great show going only to cancel it because it isn’t reality based. Everyone I know loves this show. Who decides that a show should be cancelled? And WHY was this show cancelled?

What a shame that in a time when Hollywood can rarely come up with anything original, remaking movies time & again, sequels that should never be even considered, that they would cancel a show that is unlike all the same over-saturated cop shows on tv. Try creating something that doesn’t look like everything else!!!!

Life on Mars was a great show – totally unique, it kept me riveted each week, and the plot twists and surprises were unlike any other show on television. I don’t know where I’ve been hiding, but JUST found out this show was cancelled and that tonight was the final episode. I am crushed. What an ending. Why was THIS show cancelled? It showed more creative thinking and original writing than most shows on tv, grounded in a nostalgic era with characters we all fell in love with…Are you kidding me? I am so pissed off at ABC right now…

I couldn’t believe it! I am a huge Lost fanatic and have my DVR set to record an extra 5 minutes after b/c I was missing the “Next week on Lost…” part at the end. I would always catch the beginning of LOM, and it totally caught my attention. I started watching the show when I had time on ABC.com, and it was great. Tonight, my DVR went nuts and taped Mars on it’s own (even though it says it only taped 1hr8min of Lost) and I thought the show went a little off the deep end until I went online and discovered it was the SERIES FINALE! What a shame. Well, maybe it could find a second life on one of the cable networks (like I heard TNT is trying to do with Las Vegas). Or they could do an Ashes to Ashes spin-off.

I am disappointed Life on Mars was canceled. It was a show that kept me wanting more. I DVR many shows, and few keep my attention like this one did. It’s unfortunate that ABC couldn’t see the difference between this show and many others. It was well written and the cast was a perfect fit. Life on Mars was unpredictable; never knowing what was about it happen. However, I was dissatisfied with the finale, but it was unpredictable. Hopefully another Network will pick it up, like ABC did to Scrubs.

…not suprising since this was the greatest show since JERICHO that CBS ultimately cancelled. The networks are complete idiots.

I’m so tired of the networks getting rid of the good shows. I’ve watched this one from the start – I just watched the finale (tivo’d) w/o knowing it was the finale and was FLOORED when I found out! I guess there just wasn’t enough sex (either way) to keep it in the good graces of the network.
    Pitty. REAL pitty.

I CAN’T BELIEVE ABC CANCELED THIS SHOW!!! I started watching it from the second episode onward and what grabbed me was the unique premise, soundtrack of ’70s music and diverse and interesting characters played by good actors with good writing. I thought I had finally found another show to diligently watch since Hill Street Blues, Crime Story and 24 from the wasteland that is network TV; the popular dreck and drivel of modern-day gong shows like American Idol and Dancing with the Stars, tribal shows like Survivor, etc. and actively recruited my family and friends to WATCH THIS SHOW and they all loved it! I felt cheated when they wrapped up everything in the last 20 minutes of the show with the “spaceship sequence”. Gretchen Mol looked really weird but sexy with black hair and I had a hard time believing an almost 70-year-old Harvey Keitel could be a Space Cowboy-style astronaut. If you didn’t watch this show, you really missed out and to the poster that said it was “boring”, I guess there wasn’t enough brutality or sex scenes for your liking! When ABC moved it from Thursday nights at 10:00 PM to Wednesdays at 9:00, I had a two-hour block of watchable TV to look forward to with Lost and Life on Mars but now ABC loses me for the 2nd hour. I, along with legions of more intelligent than the mainstream people are really gonna miss this show!

Why? I loved it! I am SO sick of all the other cop shows that are all the same. I really like how different this one was. I was totally disappointed in the ending too. I think if it would have had the chance to run a little longer the writers could have come up with something better than that.

I was hooked by this show from the get-go. I was incredibly disappointed when I found out it was cancelled. As one of the other posters mentioned, it seems like there’s no room for good, well-written shows like this one (and Journeyman, another of my favorites also cancelled after one season) amid all of the mindless dreck like “American Idol” and “Dancing With The Stars”. The big TV networks wonder why cable is beating them up – that’s why. Frak ‘em. I’ll miss “Life On Mars.”

Wow. Cancelled. This is the one show that I was actually excited about, ever since the first episode. Such a cool concept. And I just loved the finale… how unexpected. Now I’m upset that I never had to tape any of the episodes. :(

I’m sad to see this show canceled. In sea of reality shows, lame sitcoms and generic cop shows this was refreshing. Its crazy world we live in where shows like Bones, Two and half men and Rock of love are on for years and yet Life on Mars gets canceled?!! Why jebus, why have u forsaken us!

ya know, I was just starting to come around AGAIN to ABC and its programing. I will not be watching anymore!! This was one of the greatest shows to come along in awhile.Iwatched tie British version first and thought that the American version was way better!!! you guys really blew it this time. I used to work for a network station and saw first hand how the rating system didnt work. We were the only station to air the OJ Simpson trial. The ratings said we were getting 0.3 neilson rating But when we stopped airing the trial we received over 1200 hundred calls a day asking why we took the trial off and in a 1 month period we received over 28 thousand calls. Start listening to the people who really watch your network. not some idiots who know nothing

Rob – thanks for posting the link to write ABC…… Here’s my note to them………

It’s gotten to the point that I don’t invest any time in new shows….. The networks don’t seem to want to promote them or give them a chance!!

Life on Mars is well-written, has a unique concept and a great cast. Why in the world wouldn’t you give it the exposure it so deserves?

It’s no wonder we’re going to strictly cable channels for dramatic shows – The Closer, Saving Grace, The Shield, Damages.

    I hope you’ll reconsider !!!

Two weeks ago, I had the thought that perhaps all of the story of Life on Mars would turn out to be the actor’s dream while in the hospital following the accident — like the dream with the old Bob Newhart Show. Then I saw them all waking up in the ship and thought, “This is great! I was right.” Then the guy in regular shoes and socks (we saw only his lower leg and foot) stepped out onto the red dirt, and I thought that wasn’t quite right, but I was looking forward to what life on Mars might be like; maybe there’d be oxygen! Then the next week, no Life on Mars. Booooo! I’m giving up on ABC, too. Unless, of course, they bring it back!
