ShoWest, an annual convention of movie honchos, awarded this weekend Breakthrough Performer of the Year to Efron for his recent delivery in High School Musical The Movie.

Previous winners of the award have included Sienna Miller, Chris Pine and Bradley Cooper. Efron will hit the screen next in 17 Again with Matthew Perry.

A Matt Cassel trade has been announced. A Matt Cassel trade to the Chiefs features Cassel and Mike Vrabel going to Kansas City in exchange for a 2009 second-round draft choice.

Scott Pioli of the Chiefs issued the following statement moments ago:

“I have a long history with both players. Mike and Matt are men that I respect both personally and professionally. I look forward to having them as new members of the Chiefs family.”

Patriots coach Bill Belichick said of Cassell today in a statement:

“It is very easy to root for guys like Matt Cassel, who do everything the right way and flourish as a result. As much as we would have loved to continue working with Matt, we wish him nothing but the best as he takes this next step forward in his career.”

With over a 100 naked photos of himself online in 2008 from the scandal, Chen - a top music and film star in Asia - saw his career crash and burn in Hong Kong, resulting in him reportedly returning to Canada.

Today Hong Kong actor and singer Cecilia Cheung pictured in the Chen scandal is speaking out, nearly a year after the scandal pictures hit the internet.

Cheung says of Chen:

“He has never apologised to us personally. He should at least have called us to say sorry if he genuinely admitted his mistake…. The photos are still circulating online. How can we live a healthy and happy life? How can we put ourselves back on our feet?”

“You should not have come out (now)… saying one thing but doing another in a bid to win the public’s forgiveness whilst hurting us.”

Also featured in the 2008 photos were Gillian Chung and Bobo Chan.

VIDEO! Catch video of Siegfried & Roy’s 2009 return. Siegfried & Roy comeback performance is at Las Vegas’ Bellagio Hotel tonight.

The performance is the first time that Siegfried & Roy have taken the stage after an October 2003 attack. The event tonight will reportedly feature Siegfried & Roy on stage for only 15 minutes.

Yet through the wonders of television, ABC NEWS has figured out how to make a 1 hour special of that 15 minute performance on 20/20 (March 6).

The event tonight is a charity performance being billed as the “the final bow” for Roy Horn and Siegfried Fischbacher after 45 years. Horn at 64 reportedly remains partially paralyzed still with a damaged neck artery and crushed windpipe.

After that dreadfully shot 2009 calendar, LALATE said Kim should for 2010 get away from the smoke and retro hair and head to the beach in a bikini. Kim listened and this time around showed skin on the beaches of Cabo San Lucas for the 2010 calendar.

And in the world of perfect marketing, Kim gets a 10.0 for this one, releasing the photos just days before the premiere of her reality show’s new season. (If you have good memory, Kim just always seems to appear on a beach suddenly being photographed as soon as her show is about to premiere. Coincidence?)

VIDEO! LALATE has the video from the Paul Schene alleged assault case. Deputy Paul Schene is allegedly beating up a 15 year old girl in SeaTac City Hall’s jail cell knowing that a surveillance camera was recording the police officer’s actions.

Paul Schene is a King County, Wash. sheriff’s deputy, the girl is 15 years old. While you can watch the video and decide for yourself, reports describe the footage of Schene as kicking, slapping, striking, and even pulling the girl’s hair.

The tape was from November 2008 when the girl was in jail for an auto theft investgiation. But on Thursday this week Schene pleaded not guilty to fourth-degree assault.

Says Prosecutors:

“We believe this case is beyond just police misconduct, it’s criminal misconduct. This is clearly excessive force.”

No comment by Schene, who reportedly is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 195 pounds.

“On the plus side last year, we made purchases totaling $14.5 billion in fixed-income securities issued by Wrigley, Goldman Sachs and General Electric. We very much like these commitments, which carry high current yields that, in themselves, make the investments more than satisfactory. But in each of these three purchases, we also acquired a substantial equity participation as a bonus. To fund these large purchases, I had to sell portions of some holdings that I would have preferred to keep (primarily Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble and ConocoPhillips). However, I have pledged – to you, the rating agencies and myself – to always run Berkshire with more than ample cash. We never want to count on the kindness of strangers in order to meet tomorrow’s obligations. When forced to choose, I will not trade even a night’s sleep for the chance of extra profits.”

“During 2008 I did some dumb things in investments.”

“By year end, investors of all stripes were bloodied and confused, much as if they were small birds that had strayed into a badminton game.” He noted a dysfunctional credit market turned into a non-functional one, and the watchword throughout the country became the creed he saw on restaurant walls when was young: “In God we trust; all others pay cash.”
