Costelloe played Johnny Cakes (Jim “Johnny Cakes” Witowski), the gay lover of a capo on the Sopranos. He lived in Brooklyn, New York.

Reports state that John Costelloe’s Sunset Park home was closed up by police yesterday. But the suicide by the 47 year old was over a week ago. Police say Costelloe shot himself in a suicide on Dec. 16. Johnny was a former member of the FDNY.

Joseph Gannascoli tells press:

“I was shocked when I heard, and it still hasn’t really sunk in. I never detected anything troubling about him. I enjoyed all the time I ever spent with him.”
