Clay Aiken Best Humanitarian Celebrity 2008!

Aiken takes top nods as Best Humanitarian.
While several celebrities donated proceeds of profitable years to charities, Aiken physically did something, joining forces with UNICEF this summer. Aiken’s field visits, and subsequent blog posts, yielded an incredible $50,000 in donations for the impoverished region just after one report. Aiken would join UNICEF for efforts battling problems in Kenya and Somalia. His efforts raised awareness, educated a nation, and used his status as a celebrity to improve the lives of others.
Also, notable Paris Hilton, for her work with Los Angeles’ Children’s Hospital. Hilton told press this summer “I am so happy and fortunate to announce my support for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The children I have met through my involvement with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles have truly touched my heart. I am proud to make a donation and lend my name to the fundraising effort to help children who are facing terribly serious illnesses. The fabulous new hospital facilities at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles will provide a caring, healing environment for children and their families for many years to come.”
Hilton gave an “extremely generous” donation towards the construction of a new building at their facility – a 460,000-square-foot Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases, expected to open in 2010.

Good for Clay! What a nice honor.
Don’t forget that he raised $500,000 at his recent Gala for his Bubel Aiken Foundation – to help special needs children be incorporated into mainstream programs.
And he also helped to raise a TON of money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids during his run in Spamalot.
When Clay is involved in any charity, the response is enormous. I am so proud of him – he really is a very special person.
Thanks, LALATE, for honoring him!!!

This is where Clay’s heart is. I seem to remember him saying in his book that it is “the why of him.” We fans just could not be more proud and are so happy that he has been recognized for his efforts-though Clay is not doing it for the recognition at all.

It’s always great to see a celeberity actually follow through on their promise to ‘give back’ kudos to both Clay and Paris for doing just that.
And thanks for a site for postive news!!!

Thanks Lalate for recognizing what the fans have witnessed since Clay started his own charitable foundation right after being on American Idol–he has a big heart to go with that big beautiful voice of his. He has traveled for UNICEF often in very dangerous places, to help focus on the needs of disadvantaged children all over the world. I’m proud to be a fan. =)

Has it been 5 years and counting already? Well, Clay Aiken, after 5 years + in the limelight is still going strong despite people who have been working so hard to topple him down.
