Chris Weitz will replace on New Moon the exiting Catherine Hardwicke who Santa Monica based Summit Entertainment confirmed days ago is in fact off for the Twilight sequel.

While no confirmation from Weitz or Summit to the new report, this would mark a stark change from Twilight that gave Catherine the highest boxoffice opener ever by a female director.
