Steve Dahl is leaving Jack FM CBS’ WJMK-FM. Steve Dahl told listeners today he is leaving WJMK-FM 104.3 after 30 years. Steve Dahl has been Chicago’s top radio host for generations.

“This is our last show,” Dahl said.

Dahl told listeners:

“They were saying, ‘Well, do a couple of weeks, a farewell.’. I said, ‘It’s not a farewell. You guys are taking me off the air. I’m not retiring.’ … “I still have 2 1/2 years left on my deal so, quite frankly, I’m not letting them out of it.”

Dahl said Aloha and reportedly played Jimmy Webb’s “If You See Me Getting Smaller, I’m Leaving.”

Dahl was reportedly under contract til 2011 at $1 million per year. But cost cutting is speculated as the reason for his exit.

He will be missed.
