But if you’ve been searching for them online for 2008, why aren’t Walmart Black Friday ads online?

One report claims they won’t be online this year.

Wired News claims “Consider Wal-Mart, which has already begun sending takedown notices demanding the online removal of their Black Friday ads. Wal-Mart and a host of other retailing concerns perform this act every year ahead of Black Friday. Last year, Wal-Mart went even bigger, sending out letters warning websites not even to think about posting Black Friday advertisements ahead of schedule.”

No official comment by Walmart to that story.

What was reader reaction to that news? One reader wrote “Walmart is afraid of people seeing how much the sales are going to s-k ahead of time instead of standing in line at 5am on black Friday and finding out on then.” Another wrote the same “Given the poor quality of the deals this year, it is far more likely that people will read the Thanksgiving day paper and impulsively decide to sleep in on Friday.”
