The Sayre Fire, burning since early morning, is now heading from Sylmar into Granada Hills.

That has caused Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to declare a state of emergency for Los Angeles County. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has also declared a state of emergency in the city of Los Angeles.

The Sayre Fire started 10:30 pm last night on Sayre Street north of the 210 Freeway. The fire is currently strongest west of 5 Freeway at Sesnon and Balboa .

Sylmar High School at 13050 Borden Ave. in Sylmar
San Fernando High School at 11133 O’Melveny Ave. in San Fernando
Kennedy High School, 11254 Gothic Ave.
