Oprah Palin!

Posted on September 5th, 2008 in Sarah Palin, Oprah by lalate

Oprah Sarah Palin

Will Oprah NOT have Sarah Palin on her show? Reportedly Oprah’s staff is partially against Sarah Palin appearing on the Oprah Winfrey show.

New Oprah Palin reports are coming in this morning from the Dudge Report who claims that Oprah’s staff is split on whether a Palin appearance on Oprah should be denied.

“Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on,” an insider tells Dudge. “Oprah’s website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama.”

And even if you aren’t a seasoned tv executive, you could expect the result if Palin was denied an appearance: “One executive close to Winfrey is warning any Palin ban could ignite a dramatic backlash!”

Oprah recently attended the DNC Convention and told press afterwards she cried. No tears were reportedly shed during the RNC Convention by the talk show host.

No comment by Oprah’s reps to the report’s claims.

    Oprah is a racist

I didn’t think Oprah was racist but apparently she is since she does not want to have Sarah Palin on her show. I would think this is a good opportunity to expose the Republican dream to Oprah’s viewers.

Do all of you Oprah-apologists actually believe that she and Obama didn’t work it out for him to appear on her show just BEFORE he announced his candidacy? They planned it so that they could use the very excuse that they are using today:

“Obama appeared on my show BEFORE he announced his presidential candidacy.”

Yes, Oprah, we know. You plan well, but you’re not fooling anyone!

I am not surprised Dutch public television, yes public television went to the DNC with a team of twenty strong. And aired a daily Probama show for a week hosted by two openly biased racist black anchormen called Jörgen Rayman and Prem Shivram Shaw Radhakishun.

    Sorry addendum
They did not go go to the RNC because McCain is not a coloured man. That is how they defended their choice.

Oprah is backing Obama because he’s black. She doesn’t want equal, she wants to have her cake and eat it too. See’s a racist. Nothing else describes her. And by the way she should lay off the cake. Big girl.

OMG! Oprah said long before McCain picked his running mate that since she publicly backed a candidate, she would not have either candidate from the Democratic side or Republican side on her show until after the election. Do your research people. Moreover, she said she would have Palin on her show AFTER the presidential elections.
And wow, because Oprah backs a candidate’s ideas whom she happens to agree with that also happen’s to be black, she’s a racist? She’s entitled to have whom she wants on her show and she’s entitled to vote for whom she wants. It’s her American right. Talk about people playing the race card…pathetic. Imagine if Palin was black. Or Man. She definitely would NOT be the republican VP nominee.

This country will never be united.

Indeed, it’s her right to choose who she has on her show. And it’s my right to choose to no longer watch her, or support her ad base.

This is completely absurd. I don’t think that republicans have any sense of shame. Has anyone ever thought of why the south votes as a block? Maybe they should look at the time period when they started this trend. It was during the civil rights movement and as soon as the democrats managed to get the civil rights amendment passed, they lost the south. Why should Oprah hold her nose and put a person on her show that represents the party that tried to keep the status quo of oppression? Please, its digusting. We only invoke our freedoms and liberties when we are bashing others. Palin is against any type of reproduction rights, gay rights, and environmental responsibility. If people fall for the ploy that the republicans are playing, they deserve the type of government that we’ve had for the last eight years.

as a elected dem. from the south I will never watch her show again… it is just wrong!!! She would have the #1 watched show … ever….. Oprah it is over!!

Laua is uninformed on her history. The Republican Party significantly supported the Civil Rights Amendment. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964#Passage. Which if you read it shows 80% Repulican support vs. 61% Democrat support in the House. In the Senate it was,82% Republican vs. 69% Dems. Furthermore there was a 54 day fillibuster by Southern Dems in opposition to the Amendment. If you are going to post do your homework.

Seems like Oprah is trying very hard this year to do everything she can to kill her ratings! Bad decision not to have Sarah Palin as a guest on her show. She has campaigned for Barry Obama and he appeared twice on Oprah’s show! What does that tell you? Booooooooo for Oprah!!!!!!!

There is something very curious going on here:
    1. Everyone, including Oprah and any other media, has a right to talk and associate with anyone they please.
    2. Oprah is accountable only to her own ideas and preferences. It is a free market of ideas and viewers can choose whom they tune into.
    3. She made clear about who would come on the show and made her own ground rules that no one - Obama, Biden, McCain, or Palin would appear during the campaign.

Now . . . to all who defend her actions, let’s dig deeper:
    A. One of the touchstone’s about Oprah and her brand is about the empowerment of the disadvantaged, including women, in society. Gov. Palin is a media discovery, curiosity, and sensation - no matter what the circumstances and politics. Therefore, to preserve her reputation and objectivity, Oprah SHOULD allow Gov. Palin to appear on the show, if she’s willing.
    B. Oprah misses a fundamental value and benefit of having Gov. Palin appear. People want to know her and her American story. Of course, an appearance will seem like a campaign.
    C. The logic of having anyone appear after the campaign is non-sensical. If she loses, will the viewers still be interested? No. If she wins, do you think that Gov. Palin is interested or has the time of day to show up on the Oprah while she is #2 to the most powerful office in the world? Again no.
    D. Oprah believes that she is not going to play politics here during a very, very tight race. But, at the core, I believe that Oprah and certain staffers are very wary that her appearance on such a powerful medium will garner votes for McCain-Palin and not for Obama-Biden. Palin is a huge draw, much more than Biden, but certainly Biden should show up too - that’d be worthwhile too.
    E. Even though this is a poor comparison, Fox and O’Reilly had Senator Obama appear. Viewers should be given respect and perhaps some viewers will switch or join Obama after the interview. That’s America and the freedom to vote. So if Gov. Palin pulls in some viewers, so what? Oprah as a brand will have turned down one of the biggest media sensations to come in a long time. That’s a HUGE loss of Oprah and her brand.
So, Oprah is playing politics AFTER ALL and UNDERNEATH IT ALL. She has to get her man in office, at nearly any cost. I think Oprah, her staffers, and other Democratic supporters are very, very concerned.
    F. Finally, you know what? I would say if Obama could weigh in, he wouldn’t be afraid to have Gov. Palin on the show. He is open-minded and wants the dialogue to be open - hit the issues, just as Obama and Biden want. In fact, Oprah, being as bright as she is, could draw out some very telling comments and opinions from Gov. Palin. That makes viewers more, not less, informed.

Oprah - you’re missing big time in so many ways.
Media IS the fourth branch of the government. In the days of convergence of all media types and fora, Oprah has an obligation to bring out an amazing woman to the front stage, EVEN IF she is from the other side.

Think about - all you Oprah viewers and supporters.
