Jerry Reed is dead. Funeral arrangements for Jerry Read - who played a good ol’ boy in Smokey and the Bandit with hit songs “East Bound and Down”, “Amos Moses,” “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot,” and “The Bird” - have not yet been announced.

Reed was a singer, songwriter, and actor.

Jerry was best known on screen in Smokey opposite Burt Reynolds. He also appeared in Gator and Waterboy.

Reed and Kris Kristofferson were reportedly the first country singers to move into acting, before Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.

Reed will be missed.
