Hurricane Gustav is heading for New Orleans as CATEGORY 4! New Orleans is under evacuation! LALATE has New Orleans Hurricane Gustav evacuations details right now.

New Orleans residents are under evacuation at 11 am PST Saturday as Hurricane Gustav has increased to the deadly Category 4 classification and is heading straight for New Orleans.

LALATE first broke Hurricane Gustav, when it was only a tropical storm, and advised readers of warnings from the NHC that Gustav could touch the Gulf region by Sunday morning, Saturday evening. Now those predictions, sadly, are coming true.

The bus terminal line in New Orleans’s Union Passenger Terminal has a line wait over a mile long. Help is on hand passing out water in the blistering sun.

As of this LALATE report, there is no New Orleans mandatory evacuation. But youth and elderly without transportation are being evacuated today on buses pursuant to a state contract. That contract has allocated a reported 700 buses for the effort.

If you are taking Interstate 55 north, traffic is heavy but reportedly not horrible.

One of the big concerns – ATMs. Reportedly, they are running out of cash as people stock up for Hurricane Gustav prior to their evacuation.
Law enforcement is not waiting for mandatory evacuations. They are currently going up and down the streets advising residents where to evacuate to in advance of Gustav.

Of note – the Superdome will not be a backup plan like with Katrina. It’s not going to be opened.

Expected for Sunday:
1. All interstate traffic lanes be converted to north bound traffic to assist evacuations.
2. Mandatory Evacuations
3. Curfews

PICTURE! Here’s a photo of Chad Johnson as Chad Ocho Cinco. Chad Johnson has changed his name to Chad Ocho Cinco. The name change for the Bengal’s player to Ocho Cinco is not a joke and not a rumor, apparently.

Chad Johnson went to Broward County Clerk of Courts and legally changed his name.

The name change happened yesterday, just in time for the holiday weekend so everyone can get use to the new name around the pool and bbq.

In fact, the whole name change issue for Johnson is not new. He filed the name change on August 8, it became official today.Back weeks ago, one website ran an exclusive tip on the name change.

But when asked about changing his name on the 13th of this month, Johnson said “I don’t know anything about a name change. My name is Chad Johnson.”

Reportedly two years ago, the NFL had an Ocho Cinco play for a game but wasn’t happen. In a 2006 NFL game Johnson put a cover over C Johnson as pictured above. That cost him $5,000 in fines.

Michael Phelps on OPRAH! Michael Phelps and Olympic Beijing stars Nastia Liukin and Kobe Bryant, Dara Torres, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh will join Oprah for the new season premiere of “The Oprah Winfrey Show”.

In total 153 U.S. Olympic team members, plus or minus. The show will be shot at Chicago’s Millennium Park on Wednesday.

Also the purpose of the show – to showcase Chicago as a contender for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

The broadcast is September 8th. This is Oprah’s 23 year season.

PHOTOS! Here are pictures of Trig Palin, son of Sarah Palin and husband Todd. Trig Paxson Van Palin was born a baby with Down Syndrome. Trig is Sarah and Todd’s fifth son. His birth is coming up in today’s news of Sarah Palin being named Vice Presidential running mate for John McCain.

Leaving aside political views, here is the background on Trig, explained by the Family Research Council Action in a statement today.

“During the pregnancy, [Sarah and Todd Palin] … learned that Trig would be born with Down’s syndrome. In an era when over 80 percent of Down’s syndrome babies are aborted, the Palins feel they have been extremely blessed by God to raise ‘an absolutely perfect’ son.”

He looks pretty adorable. Todd is a fisherman and 1/8th Yup’ik. The family lives in Wasilla.
