Spamalot MOVIE Clay Aiken?

The Broadway musical Spamalot as a movie musical with Clay Aiken? Everyone who wants Clay Aiken in a movie version of the Broadway musical Spamalot type “CLAY!”
(Sorry, you can’t typed “SPAM” - it will get sent to the spam folder.)
Fans are what drive demand for new projects. And if there is one subject that keeps on reappearing in comments here on LALATE the last few weeks is fans anxious for a movie adaptation of Spamalot led by Clay Aiken.
Wouldn’t that be great?
The financial numbers on Spamalot in New York have been huge. The musical is “lovingly ripped off from” the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The musical opened on Broadway in 2005 directed by LALATE’s fav Mike Nichols. It won that year best musical. Spamalot opened with advance tickets of $18 million, a Broadway box office record.
It thereafter did massive numbers in the London West End. A tour of Spamalot in the U.S. thereafter went onto to win awards.
So with big boxoffice numbers, lots of awards, perhaps the better question -
….. Spamalot, The Movie … How soon?!

Are you kidding? CLAY!!! I’d go see that movie in a New York minute (and I loathe going to the movie theater any more!) He was hysterical in the role of Sir Robin (and I also loved Tom Deckman, David Hibbard, Rick Holmes, Hannah Waddingham and Chris Sieber — they owned their roles).
on August 28th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
CLAY!!!!
on August 28th, 2008 at 7:02 pm

CLAY AIKEN would be awesome in a movie version! I’d def go see it!
on August 28th, 2008 at 7:04 pm
Only “Clay” would be absolutely perfect to reprise his Broadway Role of Sir Robin into the movie version. He was outstanding on that stage!!!! He would be magical on the silver screen!!!!!!!
on August 28th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Although at this point I think the talk about a Spamalot movie is just wishful thinking, I’d love to see Clay on the big screen!

on August 28th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
CLAY AIKEN! I would love to see him in this movie!
on August 28th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Gotta agree that Clay would be the perfect choice to play Sir Robin in a Spamalot movie. He got rave reviews as Sir Robin on Broadway. To the surprise of some people, he showed himself to be a fantastic actor with perfect comedic timing. Not a surprise to me or his fans. Many were pleasantly surprised. The overwhelming majority of audience members loved him in the role. Clay in the movie gets my vote!!
on August 28th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
CLAY!!!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the potential movie backers (if there is a movie in the works) are paying attention to the surge in revenue that Clay brought to the show in the 16 weeks he appeared. =)
on August 28th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
CLAY !
on August 28th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
CLAY!!!!!! Absolutely, positively stupendous as Sir Robin. There will not be a theater seat to be had, if he gets the movie role!!!
on August 28th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Clay would be awesome in the movie role of Sir Robin. It is the perfect part for Clay and he is perfect for the part.
on August 28th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Clay Aiken IS Sir Robin!
on August 28th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
That would be awesome if Clay were in the movie role of Spamalot. I would also love it if Hannah Waddingham was the choice for the Lady of the Lake. She was fabulous during her run.
on August 28th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
CLAY!
He’s perfect for the role! I saw him in NYC earlier this year and he was awesome as I knew he would be. His comedic timing has always been perfect.
Go Clay go!
on August 28th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
CLAY!!
Of course he must play the roles in the film. I would see it in the theatre 5 times, then buy the DVD and watch it every day for a week. Then I will have to think about my further schedule.
on August 28th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
CLAY
on August 28th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
I just love Clay Aiken!
on August 28th, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Clay!!!!!!
In the movies!!!!! Tell me when to show up and I’ll be there. He has proven that he can bring them through the theatre doors in record numbers in the middle of winter in New York. His last cd debuted at no. 4 on the charts with no radio play and very little promotion. They would be nuts not to cast him.
P.S. Thanks Lalate for keeping us informed.
on August 29th, 2008 at 12:15 am
CLAY!!!!!
He was fantastic as Sir Robin on Broadway. he was also great as the other 3 characters he played in Spamalot. He took all of his characters to another level. He’s a very talented comic actor.
on August 29th, 2008 at 12:17 am
I’ve known how talented Clay was for years but his Spamalot performances left my jaw on the floor. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect him to pull off the calibre of performance that he did in his first run on Broadway.
Clay, Hannah Waddingham, Rick Holmes and Tom Deckman are must haves for the movie in my opinion. I loved Jonathan Hadary as King Arthur but would have loved to see John O’Hurley’s portrayal to compare. O’hurley’s dry nature has to lend it self well to the role.
Mike Nichols, are ya listening to us? Hope so!
on August 29th, 2008 at 12:26 am
A movie with Clay Aiken as Sir Robin? YES! YES! YES! He is wonderful in the role and I think everyone should get to see that.

CLAY in the movie. Perfect.
on August 29th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
If Eric Idle thinks he can do justice to the uniqueness of SPAMALOT in a movie setting, then yes, Clay would be the one to play Sir Robin.
And yes, Tom Deckman must play Prince Herbert!

Clay, Clay, Clay, Clay, Clay

on August 30th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Clay Aiken would be my pick for the Spamalot movie. I thought before I saw him in the Broadway play that maybe the hype over his part(s) in it were a little over the top. I was wrong, Clay was magnificent and really should be cast in the Spamalot movie.
on September 1st, 2008 at 4:04 am
If he gets the role, please give him a full song to sing in the movie.*praying*.
on September 8th, 2008 at 1:35 am
I would go to see Clay in anything on the big screen. I was blown away when I saw him in that small part on SCRUBS. He really can act, no doubt about it.
