Camp Rock Beats High School Musical !
Both of LALATE’s predictions for Camp Rock were right! 1) Camp Rock beat High School Musical’s ratings last night and 2) Camp Rock was the most watched cable event for 2008!
1. The Disney Channel original move Camp Rock drew 8.9 million viewers last night, according to Nielsen Media Research fast national ratings provided by Disney/ABC Cable Networks Group. That beats High School Musical 1 at 7.8 million, but short of HSM2’s 17.2 million when Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashely Tisdale were already a bigger name.
2. Camp Rock pulled in the most watched ratings for June 20 on TV, topping CBS by more than 3 million viewers.
3. Camp Rock was cable’s watched entertainment telecast in 2008.
Camp Rock’s first weekend ratings won’t be known until Monday. The movie runs on ABC’s Wonderful World of Disney on Saturday night and on ABC Family Sunday. It will hit Disney.com on Monday.
