Says Aiken: “I went through a bunch of songs and found On My Way Here by (OneRepublic’s) Ryan Tedder, and it hit me in the gut.”

Says Aiken further to USA “It became the catalyst for the whole album to be lyrically connected — most of the songs relate to lessons I’ve learned.”
“On My Way Here ” will be the title song and first single off Aiken’s album dropping May 5 from RCA.
The album is produced by Kipper and his first offering of new material since 2003’s debut album “Measure of a Man” that sold nearly 3 million copies.

On My Way Here is PHENOMENAL.
Ryan Tedder’s lyrics are so touching and Clay’s voice just brings the words to life. I can’t wait until May 6th.

I love “On My Way Here”. The lyrics are wonderful and Clay’s beautiful voice brings it to life. I can’t get it out of my head!

To each their own. I can only offer my own opinion which is that I just didn’t care for this new track. I don’t hear anything new or innovative about it, and Clay doesn’t even sound all that comfortable vocally. A tired, uninspiring song. Skip this one.

Kinda cool in a retro way. Aiken said the song is very personal to him and you can tell in his delivery. Not everything has to be innovative, but maybe this is in that, as LALate says, it sounds like nothing else out there right now.

I love this song! I think it just absolutely beautiful and one that grows on you the more you listen. But what I like most is the promise of a lot of wonderful songs on the new album. He has said there will be more uptempo and edgier songs, so let’s just wait and see. If you don’t like this one, don’t count the album out, wait to hear the rest.
