A 20 page report announced today cites three instances on Nov. 18 when Cedars gave “newborns — including THOMAS BOONE and ZOE GRACE — 1,000 times the intended dosage of the drug” reports the Insider.
The Insider is reporting: “MICHAEL LANGBERG, the chief medical officer of Cedars-Sinai, issued the following statement to “The Insider”: “The Department of Public Health’s investigation and report of how the heparin error occurred is a confirmation of our own internal findings about the error, which we previously shared last November.
“We appreciate and respect the DOPH’s regulatory role, were pleased to cooperate fully with them on their investigation, and will continue to work with them on all regulatory issues.
“While this is a rare event, we are pleased that the DOPH shares our view that it is an important opportunity for the entire institution to explore any and all ways we can further improve medication safety.”
Quaid and wife Kimberly are suing herapin drugmaker Baxter Health Care Corporation contending the 10-unit vial and 10,000-unit vial look identical.
