Vanessa Hudgens - Nude, Naked Picture Scandal 3 Months Later
It’s been slightly over three months since the Vanessa Hudgens nude picture scandal broke, and yet “Vanessa Hudgens Nude Pictures” still remains the leading search expression on most celebrity news sites. But why? Why does the Vanessa Hudgens naked, nude, and slighty naughty, pictures still remain one of the top search terms three months later?
On a Thursday the week of September 9, lalate was first of three American celebrity news sites to report chatter of an impending leak of the nude pictures. We helped break the nude pictures. It came in the middle of the night and we ran the story. Unlike other similar scandalous stories, on this one, readers knew the scandal had brokem before the reporters. As soon as lalate ran the story, readers were killing our servers - literally - in the middle of the night, while other sites hadn’t yet heard the news.
Many of the other sites clearly didn’t even know who Hudgens was. Many gossip sites clearly had never even written about Hudgens before that week.
The nude pictures hit the net that night. And then the rumors, and there were there a lot. Rumors of a video, false. Rumors of more nude pictures, false (they were clothed). Rumors of a compromising pictures with girls, false. Rumors of a Disney firing, very false (and re reported over and over again despite being false).
Then the unanswered questions - Who the pictures were taken for never got answered. Rumors of Drake Bell? He denied it. Zac Efron? We will never know. Was there a Dranessa before Zanessa? Who knows.
Kim Kardashian had two sex tapes this year, one nude playboy spread. Britney Spears couldn’t keep her underwear on. But for some reason, for the nude scandals, Hudgens then and still remains the leading searched expression.
Fan responses were mixed. lalate ran a “support Vanessa” thread and told people to support Hudgens and ignore the picture scandal. Most comments were positive. But ironically, on lalate most of the swooning comments went for Efron.
We will never know why this scandal particularly, then and now, happened as it did, but we will know that it remained a center of pop culture’s fascination in 2007.
