Lindsay Lohan’s former protector (not Batman, but her former bodyguard) has filed suit against Star Magazine. The former bodyguard to the actress / singer claims the celebrity magazine damaged his career as bodyguard to Hollywood’s elite with an article they ran. 

Monday, Andrae “Doc” Renard Newman filed a libel lawsuit against Star magazine in Los Angeles. Newman claims that Star misidentified him as Lee Weaver, another former Lohan bodyguard, in a photo caption for a story “Lindsay’s Bodyguard Bares All! Her Sick Secret World”. The story appeared in the Star July 25, 2007.

According to AP, Star’s response is such: “As soon as Star was notified that we identified the wrong bodyguard in the photo caption of the Lohan bodyguard tell-all, Star immediately withdrew the article from its Web site and corrected, retracted and apologized for the error,” said Editor-in-Chief Candace Trunzo.

“All the people in this industry sign confidentiality agreements and he’s no exception,” said Newman’s attorney, Greg Stone. “Even if he didn’t sign, he would never kiss and tell or disclose confidences. People trust this guy.”

Newman reportedly is suing for lost income and unspecified compensatory, exemplary and punitive damages.
