lalate news ended our third week yesterday with record traffic, unmatched exclusives, and a server that crashed on Friday because of page views, continuing its growth as America’s fastest growing celebrity news site.

But another news publication is not happy.

When a major celebrity news publication this week was told by us that we had the exclusive pictures on the Vera Mishina story concerning Cash Warren’s alleged cheating on Jessica Alba, the publication angrily said, “why the world do YOU have that exclusive”?

A little jealous huh? We just laughed and said, “because we are lalate news, that’s why.”

When lalate news launched three weeks ago, no one knew us and we had an Alexa ranking of 8 million. Yeah, 8 MILLION. That’s sure changed. 

Week one ended with lalate news ranking top 10 site on Google.com for a celebrity news site ahead of Access Hollywood and People Magazine, and trailing only Hollywood Reporter, MTV/VH1, Perez Hilton, TMZ, and E! Online, respectively.  It has remained in that position generally ever since.

Week two ended with lalate news breaking over a day before everyone else the Vanessa Hudgens scandal. We had the story as one of the first ten websites anywhere. By weekend end, after the VMA awards, lalate news had tracked 1/2 million readers.

By the end of week two, in a mere 14 days, lalate had ranked top 50,000 website on Alexa, arguably the fastest jump ever for a celebrity news site. It also launched a mobile service for its stories to be heard on Ipod devices. lalate clocked the highest trafficated reach of an American national nightlife site ahead of Clubplanet.com and Clubvibes.com according to Alexa that week. lalate’s preview site, that only carries headlines of its articles, not the complete articles themselves, ranked in the top 10 of 1.5 million blogs on Google-owned Wordpress.com, with one lalate feed ranking number 3 for the entire company. lalate news ranked in the top handful of sites on every major entertainment blog ranker, including Blogtoplist (No. 5) and TopBlog Area (No. 5).

Week three was all about other news sites looking to lalate for its exclusives. lalate already had inked exclusives previously on Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian (for USA Today), Reggie Bush, and Ving Rhames.

But it was its exclusive of the Vera Mishina story in week three that got its most attention for putting the other side of the story, Mishina’s side, forward in a story with no pictures and hardly any comments. Mishina was the breathtaking 20 year model reportedly lied to by Jessica Alba’s boyfriend, Cash Warren, telling her he was single only to get himself a one night stand and be back in Alba’s hands less than 24 hours later, says magazines reports.

No one had a picture of Mishina, until lalate news. lalate broke her exclusive pictures with statements from a source close to the matter.  With a server crashing on Friday for most the day, and aging stories of Hudgens and Spears, lalate news’ traffic still grew, proving its readers were staying, holding a full week ranking at approximately 66,000 on Alexa.com.

lalate has been able to trigger a nerve with readers, choosing the right celebrity to report upon, trying to fill the celebrity vacuum its competitors TMZ and PerezHilton leave.  You’ll see very little Nicole Ritchie and hardly any Victoria Beckham on lalate news. While both TMZ and Perez are coming to television this month, lalate is already in development on two tv shows based upon the hit site and a nationally syndicated print column.
